Reactive Dog Training Newcastle
You love your dog, but life together isn't always easy.
Walks may have become stressful, your dog might struggle around other dogs or people, or perhaps they seem unable to settle even after a busy day.

When so much of life starts revolving around your dog
Searching for behaviour support or dog training in Newcastle? If your dog struggles with anxiety, unfamiliarity with people, poor recall or general reactivity, I’m here to help. All our training starts with understanding your dog, their everyday needs and typical behaviour.
Perhaps the struggle follows you home too. Visitors are difficult. Your dog stays on alert. They struggle to settle, or one exciting or stressful moment seems to carry into the next.
And somewhere along the way, you’ve started managing more and enjoying less.
You might have tried training, changed your routes, avoided certain situations or followed all sorts of advice. But you’re still wondering what your dog actually needs from you.
That’s where Asphodel Canine Guidance Newcastle come in.
At Asphodel, I look beyond the behaviour we’re seeing to understand the dog experiencing it. Because two dogs can bark, pull or lunge for completely different reasons, and meaningful change starts with understanding this dog, not simply correcting the behaviour.

Whole-dog guidance
Your dog is not a collection of behaviours to correct.
Behaviour is information. By looking at the whole dog—their nervous system, emotions, health, history, environment, needs and relationship with you—we can understand what is happening underneath and decide what will genuinely help.
Find the right supportWhat we’re working towards
Not a perfectly behaved dog.
A dog who has more capacity to cope with their world. Who can notice something without always needing to react. Who can recover after something difficult instead of carrying it into the rest of their day. Who has more room to sniff, explore, rest, engage and make choices.
And a guardian who isn’t constantly second-guessing themselves.
Someone who recognises the earlier signs, knows when their dog needs space and feels more confident deciding what to do when real life doesn’t go according to plan.
Because progress isn’t only about what your dog stops doing. It’s about what becomes possible for both of you.

What is the REGAIN Method™?
A whole-dog framework for understanding what sits beneath behaviour and creating the conditions in which dogs and their guardians can regulate, recover and move forward together.
Whole Dog Understanding
Health, history, environment, natural needs, communication and relationships can all affect how well your dog copes with everyday life.
Nervous System Regulation
Understanding when your dog is becoming overwhelmed, shutting down or struggling to recover helps us support them before everything spills over.
Changing Emotional Responses
Choice, predictability, pacing and co-regulation create the safety needed for new responses.
Individualised Integration
Support is shaped around the individual dog, their guardian and the life they share.
“Obedient is not always the same as safe.”
Change more than what you can see
Real stories
Real dogs. Real people. Meaningful progress.
“We’ve seen noticeable improvements in our dog’s focus, confidence and ability to stay regulated around other dogs.”
